Networking can be one of the most powerful ways to build professional relationships, to actively foster contacts and disseminate information. Networking is a proactive investment in your future and is about connecting with people and building relationships without the need for immediate gain. Networking is about achieving business success through sharing knowledge, ideas, support and contacts with others.

The Murray Business Network (MBN) was established in April 2006 with the aim to encourage a vibrant business community within the Murray and Campaspe Shires and surrounding district. The MBN is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages dynamic interaction between business professionals, in a fun and informative environment.

- Attend Networking functions regularly and become known as the key person in your industry
- Good relationships take time to develop, so regular attendance at events is essential
- Be open to opportunities - the window of opportunity is so clear, sometimes we miss it!
- The Business card is an essential networking tool, always have plenty with you.
- Avoid keeping tabs on what you do for others - give without expectations
- Follow up those you have met and connected with, in a way that will have meaning for them.
- Listen to what others have to say with interest and this in turn will happen for you
- Introduce yourself to new people and where possible make referrals
